LOCAL FOOTBALL FANS RETURN FROM 2017 CHEVROLET FAN CUP

BANGKOK, THAILAND – Five local, passionate football fans have returned from England, where they competed in the 2017 Chevrolet Fan Cup – a one-of-its-kind tournament where fans became “professional” footballers for a day.

The residents from Thailand were among 64 fans from 12 countries whose dreams became reality when they walked onto the pitch at Manchester United’s Old Trafford Stadium, the “Theatre of Dreams,” and competed in a tournament. The exclusive experience put fans in the boots of Manchester United players, including game-day preparations and the matches.

“We have the unique ability to bring fans closer to the sport and the club they love,” said John Gasloli, Global Chevrolet Marketing. “The Chevrolet Fan Cup shows fans what is possible through the powerful connections made through sport … in this case, through the ultimate fan competition at Manchester United’s Theatre of Dreams.”

The 5 winning entries from Thailand are,

  1. Siripan Minmanee from Bangkok
  2. Charoen Thanapirom from Bangkok
  3. Teekawin Jearateerawit from Bangkok
  4. Poramin Pho-ngamthippayakul from Bangkok
  5. Wisit Karnchanopart from Pattalung

The 5 winners from Thailand, who submitted the most impressive photos or videos, were selected based on their creativity, passion and caption. All of them are lifelong Manchester United fans and agree that visiting Old Trafford is the supreme dream for all Red Devils.

While in Manchester, the fans attended Manchester United’s English Premier League match May 21 against Crystal Palace, met team Legends and were trained at the club’s famed soccer school at the Aon Training Complex. The highlight of their experience was the professional match-day experience, including dressing in the players’ locker rooms and walking through the home club’s tunnel before competing against each other in a tournament on the Old Trafford pitch.

“Going to England made me feel like I won the 1st prize in the lottery. I got a chance to meet Manchester United players and even play football with other Chevrolet Fan Cup winners at Old Trafford. Believe it or not, my team went through to the final round and we won the prize. I would like to thank our coach – Ronny Johnsen, Manchester United legend, as well for coaching us so well.” said Charoen Thanapirom, one of the winners from Thailand.

“I own 2 Chevrolet vehicles. Normally, I drive Trailblazer for both my daily and upcountry usages because of its spacious and comfortable passenger room. I feel safe in the Trailblazer. In particular, I am impressed with the Trailblazer’s powertrain and cruise control which you can control from the steering wheel. I would like to thank Chevrolet for this once in a lifetime opportunity and hope Chevrolet will organize special activity like this every year.” added Charoen.
