Chevrolet Brings Power of Play to Kids of
Ubon Ratchathani

UBON RATCHATHANI, THAILAND – Chevrolet Sales Thailand, in partnership with World Vision Foundation of Thailand, recently donated 2,000 One World Play footballs and Easy English booklets to the children of Baan Nong Meg School, Sirinthorn District, Ubon Ratchathani province. An estimated 36,756 children in the district are expected to benefit from the donation.

The donation took place during a launch event for the Chevrolet Complete Care customer service program, with the participation of attending journalists, dealership executives and employees from Chevrolet Charoen Chai in Ubon Ratchathani, one of two dealerships in the area, along with VSK Auto Mobile Co. Ltd. (aka Chevrolet Ubon Ratchathani).

“Any day we can bring the power of play to the children of Thailand is a great day. Play can transform lives for the better by instilling a sense of self-confidence that can help kids overcome challenges, set goals and achieve dreams,” said Marcos Purty, Managing Director, General Motors Thailand and Chevrolet Sales Thailand.

Purty added, “We are thrilled to make this donation as part of the Chevrolet Complete Care launch, because both activities truly demonstrate that we care about our customers and community where they live.”

Chevrolet is an official sponsor of One World Play Project, creator of the One World Futbol, an ultra-durable soccer ball that never needs a pump or goes flat, even when punctured.

To date, Chevrolet and One World Play Project have donated close to 370,000 One World Futbols to schools throughout Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos, Philippines, Myanmar and Indonesia. Globally, the partners have donated 1.5 million One World Futbols, impacting more than 45 million youth in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas.

“Baan Nong Meg School is located in an impoverished area of Sirindhorn district, Ubon Ratchathani province with 427 students.  It is lacking in many things, such as a library, books and sports equipment. I would like to thank Chevrolet for donating One World Futbols and Easy English booklets to Baan Nong Meg School. Your donations will enhance the students’ skills in sports and English language. The children will learn to spend their free time constructively, enabling them to grow up healthily and become society’s valuable assets,” said Dr.Bunjongsek Supsopha, Marketing and Fundraising Director of World Vision Foundation of Thailand.

“This is an exciting day for the local children. We greatly appreciate the generosity of Chevrolet, World Vision Foundation of Thailand and all who made this possible,” said Mr. Adul Sethsuwan, director of Baan Nong Meg School.
