CHEVROLET TAKES THAI FOOTBALL FANS TO OLD TRAFFORD FOR MANCHESTER UNITED EXPERIENCE

Bangkok, Thailand – Chevrolet took eight football fans from Thailand to an exclusive trip to Old Trafford in the United Kingdom in order to celebrate their passion for Manchester United.

Last February, the automaker had launched the global Chevrolet Fan Cup contest, asking Manchester United fans to answer the question “How Do You Celebrate after a Goal?” by taking and submitting a celebration photograph of their own via the Chevrolet Thailand’s Facebook page.

The eight Thai winners of the contest who were offered to opportunity to go to the legendary football club’s home ground and to turn their dreams into reality are:

  • Kiticha Chimplod, 39, from Phuket
  • Narongkrit Suwancharus, 21, from Bangkok
  • Prattana Pinta, 25, from Bangkok
  • Suppanat Aunpitipongsa, 29, from Bangkok
  • Norrapon Phadungthai, 30, from Bangkok
  • Sathianpong Sawangsin, 40, from Bangkok
  • Woraphong Parnchaeng, 38, from Rayong
  • Pathomporn Yavila, 39, from Lampoon

During their trip in Old Trafford, the eight Thai winners got the chance to meet and be coached by the Manchester United legends. They also had the opportunity to play a football match on the actual Old Trafford pitch, a chance that normal visitors never get. And they were given a glimpse the Manchester history with a tour of the football museum.

Narongkrit Suwancharus, who scored a goal during the friendly match between all the winners, said, “It is beyond my dream. To be here [at Old Trafford] is already fantastic. Just seeing the stadium is exciting but, to actually score a goal on these grounds – I have no words to describe how I feel. I would like to thank Chevrolet for bringing me here to ‘kick a ball’ at Old Trafford.”

For Kiticha Cimplod, also a Chevrolet Cruze owner, the inspiration for his winning submission came from the way he celebrated Manchester United’s goals. He said, “Every time Manchester United scores in a match on TV, I just scream. So I sent a picture of myself screaming in front of the TV! I had never been to Old Trafford before. This is my first time.

“We are learning Manchester United style football skills, I am so excited! Money can't buy the excitement I am getting today,” he added.


When asked what had inspired his winning photography, Woraphong Parnchaeng, who also happens to be the owner of a Chevrolet Cruze said: “I promised myself I will get a Manchester United tattoo on my back if they won at Moscow in 2008, and they did! I showed off this tattoo as my entry to the competition and, what do you know – it actually brought me good luck!”

Manchester United has more than 659 million supporters around the world. Chevrolet started its seven-year shirt sponsorship of the club in 2014.
