Chevrolet Thailand Supports Thai Education

UBON RACHATHANI, MAY 22, 2013 – Mr. Martin Apfel, President, General Motors Southeast Asia Operations delivers the Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck to Mr. Likit Ponlao, Director of Ubon Rachathani Technical College as part of the Automotive Service Educational Program (ASEP), supported by Chevrolet, an initiative to train the next generation of automotive technicians. Apart from the Colorado, which will be used to enhance hands-on technical learning, ASEP also combines formal classroom training with real work experience at dealership service centers, giving students an inside track to a career with Chevrolet.

In early March Chevrolet Thailand has increased its commitment to education in Thailand by expanding the ASEP program with Thai Ministry of Education to support 10 vocational schools across the country, from Ubon Ratchathani to Songkhla, with tools, technology, internships and teacher training.

Chevrolet Thailand has invested more than 61.5 million baht in ASEP including 10 Colorado vehicle donations to vocational schools. In 2011, 524 students graduated with ASEP certifications; and in 2012, 704 students enrolled to study under the program. About 50 ASEP students have landed internships and jobs with Chevrolet dealers.
