Bangkok, Thailand: Chevrolet Sales Thailand (Chevrolet) recently held its annual Chevrolet Grand Master Award 2012 to recognize and pay tribute to its network of dealers for their commitment, dedication and contribution to the continued growth of Chevrolet in Thailand. At the event, ten Chevrolet dealers were named ‘Grand Master’. In addition to the prestigious award, Chevrolet dealers and their teams were also awarded for excellence in other categories.
In its 10th year, the Award is held every year to support, encourage and enhance the operations of Chevrolet dealers in various areas including sales, customer service and technical competence which contribute to sustaining Chevrolet’s growth, both in terms of sales and brand footprint. Coincidentally, 2013 also marks the 20th anniversary of General Motors in Thailand.
For 2012, 10 Grand Master Awards, including one ‘Best-of-the-Best’ (overall winner) Award, were given to dealers who excelled in retail operations from the perspectives of sales, customer care and franchise standard. Points were awarded for each of the three indexes against which the dealers are judged to qualify for the Grand Master Award. Expressing his gratitude to all Chevrolet dealers for a great 2012, Mr. Martin Apfel, President of General Motors Southeast Asia Operations, said during the event, “Quality must be the guiding principle behind all we do. We work for all customers. And we cannot rest, until we all perform to the best of our ability. 2013 is a key year for Chevrolet. We must build on the momentum we created in 2012, expand our local presence and broaden our business with an improved and expanded portfolio.”
He continued, “We are not just selling cars. We are providing an ownership experience. Customers must see us as an enabler for their lifestyle. A brand they like, people they like to be around, and an experience they want to come back to.”
In addition to aggressive sales targets, Chevrolet will also continue to expand its dealership network in 2013. The target is to achieve 120 dealerships by the end of the year. The program to update existing dealerships with Chevrolet’s new Corporate Identity will also continue unabated.
The Grand Master Award 2012 event also provided all Chevrolet dealers with the opportunity to meet Mr. Gustavo Daniel Colossi, the new Vice-President of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales for GM Southeast Asia Operations, GM Thailand and Chevrolet Sales (Thailand).
A native of Argentina, Colossi, who takes over from Mr. Antonio Zara, has worked for GM in South America for 16 years. Prior to his current position, he was in charge of marketing efforts for the entire South American region and is been credited with developing and leading local, regional and global marketing plans and award-winning advertising campaigns.
“You, our dealers, have done a tremendous job so far. We are seeing unprecedented performance and growth, not just in Thailand, but across Southeast Asia. I want to ensure we all keep up the great work, and continue to maximize the growth we have enjoyed in 2012,” Colossi said.
Zara, who was also present at the event, and who is now the Managing Director of International Sales for General Motors Korea, said, “While I am saddened to bid farewell to a place I have called ‘home’ for the last four years, and to my all my friends here, I am at the same time, excited by the new set of challenges in Korea,” Zara said.
“I have no doubt Chevrolet will continue to do very well and grow in Thailand, as I am sure Colossi will be working very closely with all of you to bring Chevrolet Thailand to even greater heights,” he added.
The dealers were also introduced to GM’s new Regional Quality Director, Mr. Richard Johnson. During the event, the Chevrolet dealers were also provided with insights into Chevrolet’s business, customer care, expansion and product plans – including new vehicle launches, for 2013.
